E36 Rear Chassis Reinforcement Plates

The standard E36 chassis is know to have an issue with the rear sub frame points on the chassis being weak for anything other then daily driving, if you have an M3 car, you're okay. We've developed these rear chassis reinforcement plates to fix the problem.

General fitment

Ā  The new plates are designed to fit each corner of the chassis mount points specifically. Differences in the stamped factory metal are to be expected over the thousands of cars made, so adjustments may be required. The frame should also be checked for rust around the mount points, the new plates won't help if the car is rusted through on the perimeter.

Material and installation

Ā Ā  The plates are made from 1/8" (3.2mm) mild steel. The thicker then stock material adds significantly more strength and makes welding them in easier. After test fitting and cleaning the metal prior to welding, you can focus the welding heat on the new heavier metal and draw the weld over to the thinner stock metal, this technique will help to prevent blowing holes in other thinner metal plates or the cars original frame.
